Questions, answered
Is CE included with a membership?
No — CE courses are purchased separately from your membership. Your membership gives you access to the video library, practice exams, and other training content, but state-approved CE is sold individually so you only pay for exactly what your license requires.
How do I know which courses my state requires?
Select your state from the dropdown above and you’ll see the approved courses for your license type, along with the number of hours required for renewal. Requirements vary by state board and license class, so always confirm with your board if you’re unsure.
I hold licenses in more than one state — can I do CE for all of them?
Yes. We offer CE for multiple states. If you hold licenses in more than one state, click the “Click here if you have multiple licenses” link in the card above to see your options.
Will Electrician U report my CE to my state board?
For states where there is a process in place for us to submit your completion we submit the next business day. Most boards have a manual process to update your account on their side so it may take a day or two from our submittal for it to show in your account. You’ll also receive a certificate of completion you can keep for your own records.
Can I do the CE on my phone or tablet?
Yes. All CE courses are mobile-friendly and work on any device. Most electricians complete their hours between jobs, in the truck, or at home — no classroom, no travel, no wasted Saturday.
What happens after I finish a course?
You can download your certificate of completion immediately. For states where we report directly, your hours are submitted to the board the next business day. Most boards have a manual process to update your account on their side so it may take a day or two from our submittal for it to show in your account. Your completion record is also saved to your Electrician U account, so you always have proof on file.
How long do I have to complete a CE course after I purchase it?
You have one full year from the date of purchase to complete any CE course. You can start, stop, and pick back up wherever you left off — your progress is saved automatically.
